This is the second instalment of jonjane lite and the last before we cross into unknown territory in Europe. We don’t know when we’ll be online to update this again so in th meantime, you’ll have to make do with the story so far.

It’s been a busy 10 days or so as we’ve travelled down through England. We stopped near Leicester city to attend a Manic Street Preachers concert. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I wasn’t disappointed. Their recent album has seen some of their mojo return and they played a blistering set of oldies and newies for around two hours.

We then headed across to Norfolk for the weekend to catch up with our friend Amanda for a couple of days. It was a nice relaxing weekend with walks along the beach and nothing too strenuous.

The next stop was Wiltshire for three days where the highlight of the trip so far was a day in Avebury.

We spent ages wandering around the enormous stone circle and wandered up to the great mound of Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow. We also took time to visit the White Horse at Uffington.

Sadly, we were a little underwhelmed by Bath.

We drove south to Stonehenge. I’d been told to be disappointed by Stonehenge so I wasn’t expecting much and ended up pleasantly surprised. We took loads of photos and because no-one is allowed in the circle, the pictures are pretty free of people, which is nice. It would have been nice to touch the stones though.

We camped for 3 nights in Dorset which turned out to be a lovely place with magnificent coastal scenery and plenty to see and do. By the time we get to France, I think we’ll need a rest.

The weather has been mixed but so far we have not been soaked, flooded out or blown away. Nor have we suffered too much from sunburn. That’s English summers for you. Right now we’re in Wimbeldon. No sign of tennis players or Wombles yet but we live in hope.

A special thanks to everyone who has put us up, fed us, allowed us to use their power and washing machine, lent us or given us stuff and generally made our visit to Great Britain great.
Hope we can repay the favour sometime soon.
